Whole30-100

Hey all! I hope you're still with me. I went dark for a bit.

Things have been good. I finally started on my Whole30 journey but decided to take it a couple steps further and do a Whole100 instead. My journey ends on Thanksgiving which REALLY works out for me and my tummy. The first few days were rough, I won't lie. I felt like I had the flu for 2 days. After that it kind of got worse because my cravings went through the roof. All I wanted was sugar. I still struggle with it (Day 24) sometimes but then I usually eat a meal instead to satisfy that craving and it works well. I also experienced a minor setback where I found out that the pepperoni that I thought was compliant actually had sugar in it!!! It was labeled under that scientific name of 'dextrose'. I had a decision to make. I looked up on the Whole30 website and it said I should start over BUT..... I know I couldn't have started over so I weighed my options and took what the website said and chopped it down.

Basically it said per the rules of the program, start over.

It also said I'm an adult and need to make my own decisions.

The point of the 'no sugar' rule is to make 'eaters' realize just how much sugar is in every day foods we eat. Hence, it's in my pepperoni.

So here was my thinking- 1) I think there is a difference between not realizing there is less than 2% of sugar (dextrose) in an item, correcting your mistake, learning from it, and moving on.... and saying 'oh it's just less than 2% of sugar in this item, it won't matter. 2) I was on day 22. I had made it perfectly so far and I knew starting completely over would be a mental setback for me. 3) I'm not only doing the normal Whole30- I'm already doing it for longer which is more than a lot of people can say. And finally 4) the Whole30 site says that something that is a small bit of sugar (like added sugar less than 2%) is not likely to send me back in to sugar cravings.

So that was my decision. I haven't touched the pepperoni since. Stupid pepperoni.

My start weight was 199.8 so we will see on Day 31 :)
